INAUGURATION OF ADF ACTIVITIES AT TIRUNELVELI 29th July 2011
Asirvad Development Foundation (ADF), Corporate Social Responsibility wing of Asirvad Microfinance Private Limited (AMPL) has been conducting medical camps in various parts of Tamil Nadu. To continue with the good work, ADF decided to expand its footprints in Tirunelveli Division which covers 4 districts (Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Tuticorin, Virudhunagar) and the decision fructified into action when ADF conducted its first eye camp on 29th July, 2011 in Tirunelveli. It was decided that apart from inaugurating ADF’s charity work in Tirunelveli Division, the occasion could be used to encourage students by awarding prizes to top rankers and helping needy students by giving scholarships. The inauguration of Free Eye Screening Camp was conducted in partnership with Nellai Eye Hospital, a well-known eye hospital in the district. The camp was conducted at The Hindu Primary School, Tirunelveli Town.
Kanaka Jyothi, D/o. a member of AMPL, Kadayanallur branch was awarded a cheque of Rs 10,000 for scoring 1,134 marks in HSC board exam. R. Kaleeswari, D/o, an AMPL member of Kadayam branch was awarded a cheque of Rs. 5,000. Both, Kanaka Jyothi and R. Kaleeswari, were awarded for being toppers of Tirunelveli district. Mathivanan, S/o. Mrs. Jeyalaxmi, an AMPL member, Arumuganeri branch was awarded Rs. 10,000 for scoring the highest mark in HSC among the children of AMPL members of Tuticorin district. Jeyalaksmi, D/o Sathiya a member of Tuticorin branch was awarded the second prize of Rs. 5,000. S. A. Durga, D/o. Mrs. Ambika, an AMPL member of Nagercoil branch was awarded cheque of Rs. 10,000 for scoring 1,137 marks in HSC board exam. R. Kalaivani, D/o Mrs. Rita, a member of Nagercoil was awarded the second prize of Rs. 5,000. V. Pandimeena of Virudhunagar district was awarded the first prize of Rs. 10,000 and R. Gayathri was awarded second prize of Rs. 5,000.
Then the Chairman presented scholarships to Nine poor and students of single parenthood for their school fees and stationeries. The details of awardees and scholarship amounts are given below:

After the awarding ceremony, the special guest Mr. K. P. D. Prabhakaran appreciated Mr.S.V. Raja Vaidyanathan and the charity work done by ADF under his guidance. He also expounded upon the importance of eye and appreciated ADF for conducting free eye screening camps. He also requested the Chairman to start an old age home in Tirunelveli and assured that the Red Cross Society would provide the required land for the old age home within the premises of Red Cross Society, Tirunelveli. He also talked about the importance of donating eyes and eradicating blindness and also shared with the audience that he and his family have donated their eyes. While closing his speech he wished the best for ADF and hoped that it would continue with its good work.
Then, Mrs. E. Esakkiammal, Head Mistress of The Hindu Primary school addressed the audience. In her speech, she praised ADF for its charity work and wished ADF success in its future endeavors. During the speech, she requested the Chairman to provide 200 school bags to poor students of her school. Thereafter, Mr. R. Samudram, the coordinator at ADF in his vote of thanks speech thanked everyone for taking time out and participating in the camp.
